Calling all Fresno DSA members and prospective members: We will be voting on ratifying National's bylaws and apply them to our local chapter. Once ratified, we can finalize our application for full chapter status with the national organization. Unfortunately, this can only be voted by dues-paying members, so if you haven't already joined, please take a moment and join here: https://act.dsausa.org/donate/membership/

If the chapter votes to ratify the the bylaws, we will follow the ratification with nominations for leadership positions. We will be nominating for the following positions:
- 2 Co-chairs
- 1 Vice Chair

Show some love for your local Fresno artists! On display for February, we have seven diverse, amazing artists who all showcase something unique and different. What makes COMMON SPACE unique is that we don't charge artists (new or seasoned) a fee to display. They keep all the proceeds so our arts and culture movement in the valley continues to grow.

On display are: Jessica Diaz, Tamara Elliott, Charlotte Kinsfather, Stephen Planting, Robert Rawson, Scott Strong and Tricia Sutton.

Kit's Kits Collection Drive for Homeless Individuals

Collection Drive is from November 14 - December 15. 
Kit's Kit's is a grassroots efforts that their founder Kit started over 10 years ago. Every year, she collects items to create fully loaded backpacks of care items. On Christmas morning, her husband and herself drive around town looking for homeless individuals at 2AM, leaving a backpack for someone to wake up to. Her husband dresses in Santa attire while she dresses like a fairy elf. With our efforts, hopefully we get her so much stuff she can do even more!

Join us for our Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration! This ArtHop is all about celebrating life. We will have community alters set up to remember those who have passed, live performers doing readings and performances. Of course food and drink bring us together. We'll be serving pan dulce/pan muerto, champurrado, and hot coffee. Homemade tamales will be for sale to benefit COMMON SPACE, a space where community gathers daily.

Hand lettering is IN right now, people-- come jump on the train with me!

I am Shelley Borcherding, owner and head calligrapher of Scirbble & Script. The Modern Calligraphy craze is every where you look, so come learn the fundamentals of this fancy font in my Introduction class. Through three hours of instruction (I know it sounds like a lot but it goes by so fast!), I cover all of the basics needed to get started on your hand lettering journey, from building capital AND lower case letters, basic letter connections, and styling. This interactive class setting gives you the opportunity to have FUN while learning a new skill. 

So what's included y'all!?

  • 12 page bound Practice Workbook AND access to a digital copy to print out at home for further practice
  • Tombow brush pen, gold paint pen, and pencil 
  • 8x10 canvas to create your very own visual masterpiece
